About Primitives Past
Greetings and welcome! All my items are handmade and carefully designed in the spirit of Early American folk art.
My hope is that my creations will take you back to a simpler time reminiscent of the 19th century. Each piece is designed, handmade, and aged so that no two pieces are exactly alike. I have been recreating Early American folk art and primitives for over four years selling my creations to a shop in Waynesville, OH called Olde Glory. I decided after all these years to venture out and offer my items on the internet.
Please come, browse, and enjoy my creations!

ONE OF A KIND - PENNY RUG
Recreation of a very intricate and unique penny rug I found in the American Country Time Life book series called "The Needle Arts" pgs. 92 and 97. The rug is made of recycled/hand dyed wools. It measures 29 1/2" x 26". It is completely hand stitched, appliqued, and embroidered. Some of the stitches used include stem, feather, seed, and blanket. I did not include the last row of pennies as in the original since it took a couple of months to complete it at its current size! Price: $795.00.
At the center of the rug around "1893", you will find pennies of dogs, cats, birds, and turtles. Moving out from the center of the rug are rows of cherries/strawberries, tea pots/kettles, and stars.
